All about the Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB)

To provide affordable housing to all sections of people in Odisha’s urban and semi-urban areas, the Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) was established in 1968 under the provisions of the Orissa Housing Board Act, 1968.

The Odisha Housing Board was set up to make the state slum-fee. In May 2021, the Odisha government approved a proposal to amend the Orissa Housing Board Act, which establishes that slum dwellers will be allotted land of a minimum size of 30 square metres, for rehabilitation.

In the 50 years of the Board being in operation, it has executed several housing projects across the state. However, providing affordable housing is fast becoming a challenge for the Odisha Housing Board, considering the prolific increase in urban population.

Apart from providing information about under-construction and upcoming projects, the Bhubaneswar-headquartered board also gives information about vacant plots in Odisha. The housing board Odisha uses a lottery system to allocate homes at OSHB-led projects.
