The Palwal-Ballabhgarh Metro is an upcoming metro corridor that will connect Faridabad’s Ballabgarh to Palwal in Haryana. On June 25, 2023, the Haryana government gave approval to the metro project that aims to boost connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Palwal-Ballabhgarh Metro line will cover 24 km and comprise 10 stations. Work on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has started and will be ready around mid-2025. Further, the government plans to connect the Palwal Metro to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway and the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor.
According to officials, the metro network will have integration with Ballabgarh’s Railway Station, bus stand, Raja Nahar Singh Metro Station and Palwal Bus Stand.
The upcoming metro project will enhance connectivity between Delhi, Palwal, and Ballabhgarh, allowing Delhi residents to access the industrial hub of Faridabad with ease. The region is home to many industries and corporate offices and the metro line will provide a fast mode of transportation. Besides, residential and commercial real estate activities are increasing in areas surrounding the metro corridor. Palwal-Ballabhgarh Metro project details
The 24-km metro rail corridor is likely to have 10 metro stations. It will connect to key industrial areas such as Sector 58-59, Sikri, Softa, Prithla, Baghola, Alhapur and Palwal. Alternatives of the MRT system will be studied for the proposed corridor. The alignment will be decided after discussions with NHAI and other stakeholders.
The Raja Nahar Singh Metro Station (earlier known as the Ballabhgarh Metro) is the terminating station on the Delhi Metro’s Violet Line. The metro route in Delhi starts from Kashmere Gate Station.
Palwal is a city in the Palwal district of Haryana, located around 60 km from Delhi. The location has connectivity with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) or Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway (KGP Expressway) and the Western Peripheral Expressway or the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway (KMP Expressway).
The elevated metro corridor will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore per kilometre. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 4,320 crore.
