Story 87: Nest | Houses of India

Story 87: Nest | Houses of India

In the quaint corner of Thane lies a vibrant house belonging to Kavita Merchant, Jayesh Merchant and their daughter.

Jayesh is into design and printing and Kavita works as a sculptor and a potter. She has decorated the house with dangled plants in terracotta pots, earthen sculptures, ceramic urns, bohemian golden lamps and unique showpieces.

These small nuances in the home décor are a reflection of Kavita’s artistic side. They wanted to use every corner of the house smartly.

Hence, they chose a split-level style, which ensures that most of the space gets utilised, wherein the floors are separated by half a storey.

Overall, they opted for a contemporary design with a minimalistic appeal to it, which reflects their personality.

What they love about the house the most is that overall, the house has an uncluttered aesthetic décor, with abundant natural light, colourful seating, light-coloured wall surfaces and teak wood flooring.

They strongly believe that clean modern detailing makes the entire home warm and cosy. The clean cabinets, monkey rail staircase and trimmed storage area, make this house one of a kind.
