Acharapakkam is a panchayat town in the Tamil Nadu state of India's Chengalpattu district. It is well-known for the Aatcheeswara Swamy Temple, an ancient Shiva temple and one of the Devaram temples. About 96 miles to the southwest of Chennai city, which is now a part of the Chennai Metropolitan Area, is Acharapakkam town. The Lord Shiva-dedicated Aatcheeswarar Temple is situated close to Acharapakkam, Tamil Nadu, and India. The hymns of Saint Tirugnanasambandar extol the shrine. The Thevaram songs extol this sanctuary, the 29th in the Thondai region. This temple dates back between 1000 and 2000 years. The Arulmigu Aatcheeswarar Temple is thought to be connected to the Tripurasamhaaram mythology (related to that at Tiruvatikai Veerattaanam).
