The Veer Hakikat Rai ISBT Sarai Kale Khan is built to decongest the overcrowded Kashmere Gate ISBT, which was unable to bear the increased interstate traffic. This ISBT is under a redevelopment plan to provide a quality service system for the commuters with integration with DMRC and also interconnect the bus terminus with Nizamuddin Railway Station. Veer Hakikat Rai ISBT Sarai Kale Khan is the terminus for most buses heading for towns south of Delhi. Also in the vicinity is an Elevated road project that connects Sarai Kale Khan with Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Lodhi Road.
