Cidco sends notices to 529 illegal Navi Mumbai projects

Illegal construction: Madras HC pulls up local administration authorities

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has issued notices to 529 unauthorised constructions in Navi Mumbai. Of the 529 projects, 277 projects are under Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) jurisdiction and the remaining 225 are under the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Uran.

If these structures are not demolished within the deadline of 15 days that Cidco has given, these will be razed in the same way as Cidco has done with illegal structures in the past.

The illegal structures are built on plots that are reserved for open spaces, public amenities and the 12.5% allotment to  project-affected persons and grounds.  Home buyers should note that process of granting commencement certificate (CC) for a project by Cidco is online now and buyers should check legal status of the project before investing.

With a number of nodes developing in Navi Mumbai, the satellite city is also facing problems of illegal real estate construction. Cidco has published a list of these 529 invalid constructions to warn people from investing in these projects, as these are not RERA registered and have not abided by any compliance. These projects, in addition to not completing on time and providing valid property documents, may also pose a question when it comes to construction quality.
