Fill a kalash (pot) with Ganga water or any river water in a copper pot and place it near the idol. Perform the Kalash puja. Add nine types of grains and a coin into the kalash. Tie a red cloth around a coconut and place it on the Kalash with four mango leaves at the sides. The pot should be placed near the ceremonial fire place or havan.

Make proper seating arrangements for the guests

Griha pravesh ceremonies usually require people to sit down on the floor for the puja. Keep dhurries or mattresses on the floor or arrange for chairs for the guests who are unable to sit on the floor.

Vastu puja

According to Vastu, a Havan is performed during the housewarming ceremony to remove the three sins: digging of earth, cutting of trees and breaking of stones.
