UP govt gives nod to Lucknow Metro Phase-2 project

Navi Mumbai Metro: Map, route, stations, latest news

January 12, 2024: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has given his approval for Phase-2 of the Lucknow Metro. To be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,881 crore, Phase-2 is also known as the east-west corridor.

The Char Bagh Station that connects the city’s main railway station through the metro link will act as the junction station for the existing north-south corridor and the upcoming east-west corridor of the Lucknow Metro. Providing connectivity to some of the most densely populated areas in the old city, Phase-2 will boost both, connectivity and real estate prices.

Work on the corridor with 12 stations is expected to be completed in the next five years after the union urban development ministry and Public Investment Board give its approval to the project.

Spread over an area of 11.165-km, this phase will provide metro connectivity to areas between Char Bagh and Vasant Kunj.  While 7 of the 12 stations along the way will be underground running a distance of 6.879 km, the remaining 5, running 4.286 km, will be elevated.
