Bangalore Metro Pink Line to be operational by 2025

April 17, 2024: The tunnelling work on the Bangalore Metro Pink Line connecting Kalena Agrahara with Nagawara is nearing completion and is expected to be completed by August 2024, according to media reports. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has divided the tunnelling project into three phases. The two phases of the 13-kilometre tunnel have been completed, while the third phase is in progress with the completion of 94% of the drilling. The first phase of the tunnel connects Shadimahal to Venkateswarapuram, covering 1066.80 metre while the second phase connects Venkateswarapuram to KG Halli, covering 1185.80 m.

The Pink Line covers a length of 21.26 km, with a 13.76 km underground section and a 7.5 km elevated. It comprises 18 stations, including 12 underground stations. It is being developed under the Phase 2 expansion of the Bangalore Metro. The entire Pink Line is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. Once operational, the metro line will significantly enhance connectivity across the city, reducing traffic congestion.

The completion of the tunnelling project set the stage for subsequent track laying, civil works and the installation of vital infrastructure for the Pink Line.
