Namma Metro’s Yellow line to become operational by July 2023

India's metro network fifth largest in the world

The Bangalore Metro Network’s Yellow Line, which connects RV Road in south Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the southeast, is expected to become operational by July 2023. The new section of the Yellow Line, starting from the RV Road station on the Green Line, will intersect with the upcoming Gottigere-Nagawara Pink Line route at Jayadeva Hospital and with the Blue line at Central Silk Board Station. The section will proceed to Bommasandra.

The 19-km yellow line corridor, which will provide metro connectivity to several busy and key localities of the city, comprises 16 stations. These include Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road (RV Road), Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Konappana Agrahara, Electronic City, Huskuru Road, Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.

Most of the works of tracks and stations have been completed and final works are in progress.

Recently, the 13.7-km Purple Line extension of the Bengaluru Metro from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield line was opened, which is the first Namma Metro line to the IT Corridor.

Further, a small section from Kengeri to Challaghatta is also expected to be operational soon, enhancing connectivity from the Challaghatta region to Mysuru Road.

About 175 km of the Bangalore Metro network will be completed by June 2025, according to BMRC Managing Director Anjum Parwez.
