Approximately fifty kilometers connect the city of Pune to the village of Ranjangaon. The neighborhood is home to the Mahaganapati temple and the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) industrial zone. Several major manufacturers, including LG, Whirlpool, Carraro, Fiat, Bombay Dyeing, Maccaferri, Beakaert, etc., call the MIDC in Ranjangoan home. As one of Maharashtra's Ashtavinayaka sanctuaries, the Mahaganapati commemorates eight different Ganesha tales. It is said that Mahaganapati helped Shiva destroy Tripurasura's citadels at Ranjangaon.
