Kanchipuram, famously known as the 'Golden City of 1000 Temples', is one of the oldest cities of India. It is located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, about 72 km from the capital city of Chennai. Kanchipuram is an important religious and pilgrimage site for Hindus, as the city houses some of the most sacred and ancient temples in the country. It is also famous for its modern silk sarees, made from a blend of silk and zari. The town of Walajabad is located very close to Kanchipuram, about 7 km away in the Tiruvallur district. The scenic village of Walajabad is surrounded by lush green fields and is known for its unique style of weaving. The town is home to the famous Kailasanathar temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is said to have been built during the 8th century. It is believed that the temple's construction style and intricate sculptures were the work of the great Pallava dynasty ruler. Apart from the temple, Walajabad also has a number of tourist attractions like the Veeranarayanan Falls, which is a refreshing spot for picnickers and the Arani Manimangalam, a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
