Kurla is a metropolitan region situated in East Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, 400070. Kurla serves as the taluka's administrative center in the Mumbai Suburban District. The area lies on the southern end of Salsette Island along the east bank of the Mithi River. In Kurla, adjacent to the Mithi river, the Bombay Taximen Union started construction on the Taximen Colony in 1969.
