Kakinada is a leading city in the Andhra Pradesh State. It is also the district headquarters for the District of Kakinada. It is located upon the Bay of Bengal coastline. The oldest and most acclaimed Government College in the State was set up here in 1946, namely the J.N.T.U. College of Engineering Kakinada. The first polytechnic college in the State was also founded herein 1946. It is also the point where the Buckingham Canal originates for the transportation of goods. It was also home to the biggest sea port in Asia earlier, and this is now nearer to the Coringa Village. Kakinada is also famous for its Kaja sweet and it has contributed to the iconic South Indian recipe named Kakinada Kaja. It is also famous for its delicious food including the Subbayya Gari Hotel, known for offering authentic and tasty vegetarian fare countrywide.
The Bajji snack is also popular amongst residents of Andhra Pradesh. The city is impeccably planned and has a dedicated road for the temples, called Temple Street. It is a great place for enjoying natural landscapes with coconut trees and greenery along with open fields. It is also home to the country’s second-biggest mangrove forest near Coringa. The city is also known for its Godavari Dialect. It was founded in 1759 and had a population of 384,128 people as of the year 2011. The total area of Kakinada is 30.51 square kilometers. It is governed by the Kakinada Municipal Corporation. The coordinates of Kakinada are 16°57′58″N 82°15′18″E.
