Dahisar is a northern suburban town of Mumbai located on Salsette Island and surrounded by the Manori Creek and Saltpans. Dahisar is more commonly known for being a railway station in the northern suburbs of Mumbai. This small town is situated on the Salsette Island and is has a beautiful landscape to offer overlooking the inlet of the Manori Creek and Saltpans on the West and scenic hills of the National Park on the East. Like most suburban towns of Mumbai, Dahisar too is divided into East and West. Dahisar village originally comprised of 10 hamlets. The recorded history of the village dates back to as far as the 1630s. Dahisar was connected to Mumbai via the railway line in 1867 and since then it witnessed the settlement of migrants from nearby regions the Konkan. Earlier, Dahisar used to be a part of the Thane district of Maharashtra but was later incorporated into Mumbai city in 1956 when along with Borivali as part of the Bombay Suburban Districts. The popularity of Dahisar goes back to the time when it used to be a popular choice for film shoots. The famous Bhoot Bangla film studio is located here amidst an old bridge over the Dahisar River and a small hillock surrounded by orchards. The Dahisar River today is polluted and the many lakes that once existed have been filled up for modern construction. With the influx of migrants and newer settlements, Dahisar real estate has grown considerably. Although the once idyllic scenery of Dahisar is no longer present as it used to be, the town holds great potential for development as builders in Dahisar tap into it coming up with newer residential and commercial ventures. The civic body too is trying its best to transform the deteriorated town with better developed pedestrian sidewalks, more beautification with wide and smooth roads, flyovers for better connectivity etc. Reasons to invest in Dahisar:Recent years have seen a sudden spurt in the overall infrastructural development of Dahisar which has given a positive boost to the real estate market and influence property price trends in Dahisar. There have been construction of wide roads, sidewalks, flyovers etc. and it is expected that Dahisar is going to be one of the many sought-after residential and commercial suburbs of Mumbai city.
