Palamu is a district in the north-western Jharkhand. It is on the border of Chatra district towards the east, Latehar on the south, and Bihar towards the north. It came into being on 1st January 1928, and it lies between 83°55′- 84º30′ east longitude and 23°50′- 24º8′ north latitude. Spread over an area of 5043.8 square kilometers, Daltonganj is its district headquarter. It is on the banks of the Koel River. This district has its headquarters at Medininagar. With a total of 1,939,869 population, it is 243rd in India. As per the 2011 census, 65.49% speak Hindi, 24.44% speak Magahi, and 6.87% use Urdu as their first language. One should not miss visiting Betla National Park, 3km from Palamu. Also, don’t miss the Palamau Tiger Reserve in Jharkhand. In addition, the Lodh Waterfall is another hidden gem of this place that is worth visiting. The entire region in Palamu is full of lush greenery, and the Chotanagpur Plateau hills are also worth visiting.
