Parel is in the neighbourhood of Mumbai, under the Mumbai District of Maharashtra. The place got its name from the Parali Vaijanath Mahadev Shiva temple. It is part of the Secondary Business District (SBD). Its coordinates are 18.9977° N 72.8376° E. With a population of 146056, the size of the area is around 4.06 square kilometres. The climate of Parel is tropical, with dry and wet seasons and is moderately hot with high humidity levels. Marathi is the official language, however, Hindi is also spoken.
