The city of Satara is situated in the Satara District in the Indian state of Maharashtra, close to the meeting point of the Krishna River and its tributary, the Venna. It serves as both the Satara District's and the Satara Tehsil's administrative center. Its coordinates are 17.688°N 74.006°E and has an average elevation of 742 m. On National Highway 48, Satara is roughly 250 km (by the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and PB Road) from Mumbai and 110 km (through Pune) from that city. trains running from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kolhapur via Satara. On the Satara Pandharpur Road, a distance of around 7 kilometers from the Satara Bus Stand, is where Mahuli is located near Satara's train station.
