Mokokchung is a leading municipality within the District of Mokokchung in Nagaland. It is the headquarters of the district along with being the urban zone of the same. It is the cultural hotspot for the people of the Ao community and is northern Nagaland’s most crucial political and economic hub as well. Mokokchung was one of the very first sites in the Naga Hills to get outposts of the Assam Rifles. The town expanded around such a post amidst the DC Hill.
