Wokha

Wokha District, Nagaland, India

Wokha is a leading municipality cum town in Nagaland. It is also the headquarters to the District of Wokha and lies 75 km northwards from Kohima. It means head count and census in the Lotha tongue. The population stood at 35,004 people as of the year 2011. The elevation of the area is 1,313 meters. The coordinates of Wokha are 26.0910° N, 94.2590° E. The oldest cricket competition in all of North East India takes place here, namely the Winter Cricket Challenge. The Amur Falcon migration event is also a landmark for this town. The Doyang Dam is two hours away from the area as well. The Assam Rifles had a sizable presence in the town as well.
