Ullal is a small town in the southern part of Mangalore city, close to the border between the states of Karnataka and Kerala. Ullal is primarily a fishing village settled on the south banks of river Nethravathi. The road transport of this town is very strong, since Mangalore is well connected with cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, so getting in and around Ullal is quite convenient. The Edapally-Panvel Highway crosses the town, further joining Mangalore-Bangalore Highway and straight to National Highway 66 (Solapur-Mangalore Highway). The rail transport is facilitated from the Ullal Railway Station. The nearby areas include Thokottu, which is a prime commercial complex and also known as an educational hub. A very famous tourist spot because of its sea facing location, Ullal houses some of the historical spots like the Someshwara Temple, St. Sebastian Church, Queen Abbakka‚ s Fort at Ranipura, Ullal Juma Masjid & Sayyid Madani Darga Shareef and Summer Sands Beach Resort among many others. This town is an important trading center for fish and fish manure. Fishing and Beedi rolling are main occupations of the residents of this town. Among many beaches in Karnataka, the Ullal Beach here is arguably one of the best. Tempting sea food, water sport facilities, golden sand or simple the tranquility you love, this beach has it all.
