Daryaganj had the original cantonment of Delhi after 1803, where a native regiment of Delhi garrison was stationed, which was later shifted to the Ridge area. Now known as New Darya Ganj, it once formed part of the British Darya Ganj Cantonment, one of the earliest establishments of the British in Old Delhi. Daryaganj continues to be a major commercial hub of modern Old Delhi. Netaji Subhash Road begins from Delhi Gate and goes towards the historic Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk, passing through the middle of the area, which is a short walk away. Daryaganj is also famous for its all-time favourite markets like the Sunday Book Market or the Kitab Bazaar (Book Market), which is held every Sunday on street pavements. This city is well connected via bus, rail, and other main mediums of transportation. DaryaGanj has one major cinema hall called Golcha, which opened in 1954, and one of the oldest cinemas in Delhi. Darya Ganj has the first co-education school in Delhi, Happy School, located on Padam Chand Marg. This location has every basic amenity to offer to its residents. Good things here

The area is home to some of the oldest and most iconic eateries in Delhi, such as Moti Mahal, known for popularizing dishes like butter chicken and dal makhani. Daryaganj is still an active business district, known for publishing houses, printing presses, and wholesale medical markets.

Many Sunday book markets, like many publishers there. There is also a well-known market known as Chandni Chowk where one can easily and cheaply find electronic items. Daryaganj is well-known for its markets. It's also a secure neighbourhood.

The market is very close, and everything I need on a daily basis is within a 100-meter radius. There are almost no power outages, and the location is pleasant. It is a very secure society. As a woman, I feel very safe, and the police station is only 100 metres away.

The Sunday market is the most well-known feature of the area. The book market as well as the Jama Masjid market. The community and society are very active; there is never a dull moment in the area.
