Andhra Pradesh, India, 534001

Eluru is a leading city and the headquarters of the District of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the State’s 14 municipal corporations and the headquarters of the Eluru Mandal in the Revenue Division of Eluru. The city is known for its hand-woven products and wool-pile carpets. The city had a population of 214,414 people as of the year 2011. It was founded on the 2nd century and was integrated in the year 1866 as a town. It also became a city on 9th April, 2005. The city is governed by the Eluru Municipal Corporation. The total area of Eluru is 11.52 square kilometers. The Eluru coordinates are 16.7107° N, 81.0952° E.
Infrastructure and Details
Eluru is famous for its rugs and weaving industries along with carpets, with products exported to several global countries. There is a widespread APSRTC buses running in the city while there are the National Highway 16, Golden Quadrilateral Network, and the Asian Highway 45 running through it. There are several other major roads including the NH216A. The Eluru railway station is a leading connectivity lifeline in the city. The Gannavaram Airport is 35 km away from the city. Reputed educational institutions in the city include several secondary and primary schools along with private schools as well. The Chintalpati Satyavathi Devi College, Balagangadhar Tilak Oriental and Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad High School are major educational institutions here along with the ASRAM Medical College, St Joseph Dental College, and the Sir C.R. Reddy College. Leading hospitals include the Andhra Hospitals, Eluru Hospital, and the Sri Sairam Multispecialty Hospital.
