Pathanamthitta is a municipality in the Central Travancore region of Kerala, spread over 23.50 square kilometers. With a population of 11,97,412, it is the 13th revenue district of Kerala. Among these, 46.9% are male, and 53.1% are female. In this, 57% of people have faith in Hinduism and 38% form faith in Christianity as the minority. The language spoken here is Malayalam. Its average elevation is 18 meters. Pathanamthitta is a separate Lok Sabha constituency, and a district collector heads its administration. It is famous as the headquarter of pilgrimage tourism in the state. It is near the Western ghats, with hills by all its sides.
