Bhilwara is a famous city in Rajasthan’s Mewar Region. It is also known as the Textile City and covers 69 square kilometers in total. It falls within the Bhilwara District at an elevation of 421 meters. The population stood at around 359,483 citizens as of 2011 while the languages spoken here include Mewari and Hindi among others. The coordinates of Bhilwara are 25.3407° N, 74.6313° E.
Infrastructure and Details
Bhilwara is famous for its textile industries. There are more than 800 manufacturing facilities that are present here. The main product is the synthetic fabric that goes into trousers. The pioneer of the industry here was the 1938 Mewar Textile Mills. The fabric produced here is exported to several global regions as well. The National Highways 76 and 79 pass through the district. The National Highway 758 is also accessible from the area. Bhilwara also offers private and public bus services. The State capital Jaipur lies 253 km away from it. There is a railway line linking to major cities in Rajasthan and other parts of the country. The nearest airport is Dabok-Udaipur, which is 165 km away. Another airport has begun operations around two hours away from the area. This is the Kishangarh Airport near Ajmer. Leading educational institutions include the Government of Rajasthan’s engineering college (MLV Textile and Engineering College) and the Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Medical College.
