Jhansi is a leading city in Uttar Pradesh and lies within the Bundelkhand Region. It is the administrative headquarters for the District of Jhansi and also the Jhansi Division. It is also known as the Gateway to Bundelkhand. It lies near the Betwa and Pahuj Rivers at 285 meters high. Jhansi is 420 km away from New Delhi and approximately 102 km away from Gwalior. Jhansi is well connected to several Uttar Pradesh towns via road and railway lines. Jhansi is one of the cleanest cities in the State. A Greenfield airport has also been planned for the near future. The city was founded by the Raja or Orchha and had a population of 505,693 people as of the year 2011. The main languages spoken here are Hindi and Urdu. The total area covered by Jhansi is 160 square kilometers. The coordinates of Jhansi are 25°26′55″N 78°34′11″E.
