Kulai is a beautiful town of Mangalore city, located in the Dakshina Kannada District.This place is very famous for its picturesque and clean sandy shores of Surathkal Beach, Panambur beach, Kapu beach, Murudeshwara beach and St. Mary‚ s Island. The famous Sadashiva Ganesh Temple and Mahamayi Temples also exist here. Annual Maripooja festival is celebrated in a grand manner here. This has resulted in helping this place to become a renowned tourist attraction. Owing to its location on National Highway- 17 and Edapally - Panvel Hwy, this place enjoys good connectivity to its neighboring areas. Its residents enjoy a smooth and convenient daily commute due to the presence of Surathkal Railway Station and Thokur Railway Station and strong network of roadways served by city buses and the Mangalore-Udupi Express buses. New Mangalore Sea Port and Mangalore International Airport also lie in the vicinity. Surathkal houses many renowned educational institutes like National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Vidyadayanee High School and Govindadasa College. The presence of some of the renowned industries like Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik (BASF), Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) and Baikampady Industrial Estate in and around Kulai provides a number of job opportunities for the people residing here. All these reasons have contributed in making this place a preferred residential option to reside in.
