Morena is the headquarters of the District of Morena in Madhya Pradesh. It is governed by the municipal corporation and is also the administrative headquarters of the Division of Chambal. It lies 39 kilometres away from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. Morena lies on the National Highway 3 and there are roadways linking all the parts of the State along with those nearby including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan among others. The city can be accessed almost anywhere in India via the National Highway 3. The total area of Morena stands at 80 square kilometers with a population estimated at 200,483 people as of the year 2011. The languages spoken here include Hindi and also Brajbhasha.
