Khagaria is a city in the State of Bihar and the administrative headquarters of the District of Khagaria. The area lies within the Division of Munger and the coordinates are 25.5°N 86.48°E. The Khagaria Junction railway station lies near the city, approximately 25 km northwards from Munger. The total area covered is 1,485.8 square kilometers while it lies at an elevation of 36 meters. The population stood at 49,406 people as of the year 2011. The languages spoken here include Hindi, Thethi, Maithili, and Angika.
