Ranipet is a town and the administrative center of the Ranipet district in the Tamil Nadu state of southern India. As of 2011, this town, which is located on the northern bank of the Palar River, was home to 80,000 people. Its coordinates are 12°56′01″N 79°20′28.9″E. it lies under Ranipet municipality that was upgraded as Selection Grade Municipality. Its official language is Tamil.
