Virar East is on the Eastern fringe of the Mumbai Metropolitan region and has begun to develop ever since the western suburban line was extended upto Virar. The are is open and has plenty of green coverage. The area is gradually developing and residential accommodation is being constructed at a rapid pace. The area is 60kms from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport and 41 kms from the Borivali station where express trains can be accessed. This distance from Mumbai has created the need for Virar to become self sufficient and have its own infrastructure of hospitals, schools, markets, shopping centres and accommodation. A large number of people commute from Virar to the industrial and commercial hubs in the main areas of Mumbai and stay in Virar because of the cheaper accommodation there. Property rates are much lower in Virar and 83% of all residential property available in Virar East are 1 and 2 BHK apartments.
