Dahisar East

Dahisar is a small locality located in the northern part of Mumbai. The locality is small and is primarily a residential area. It is not yet one of the major growing cities in Mumbai.

The Dahisar has a history that dates back to 1630s. The word Dahisar originated from the ten hamlets. Dahi means ten according to a few languages like Agris, Kolis, Warlis, Dublis, who were the original residents of Dahisar. The original ten hamlets of Dahisar are Gaothan, Kandarpara, Navagaon, Ovaripada, Ghartanpada, Ketakipada, Rawalpada, Dahivali, Bhagalipada and Wadarypada.

This area has been primarily a residential area. In the 1960s, Medina Manzil, Patel Colony, Zainab Baugh, Sanjeevani, Gol Building and Mankarnika were the areas in Dahisar that became residential. Then the Gokul and Shailendra Nagar area in 1970 turned residential. The 1980s and 1990s saw the rise of many other areas including Anand Nagar.

Dahisar East is primarily a residential area. Right from the 1960s this area has been a residential area. The social infrastructure is well built and is a little distant from the Central Mumbai. People who do not like living in a busy crowded place, Dahisar is a good alternative to choose yet being located in Mumbai. The connectivity of the bus routes is good and one can easily travel to other parts of Mumbai easily. The only con of this area is that it is far away from the business hubs in Mumbai.
