Mehsana District, Gujarat, India

Mehsana or Mahesana is a leading municipality cum city in the District of Mehsana and lies in the State of Gujarat as well. It was founded in the 14th century and was once ruled by the Gaekwads of the State of Baroda from the 18th century onwards. The municipality was founded in 1919-20. The area is governed by the Mehsana Municipality with a population estimated at 184,991 in the year 2011. The total area covered by the city is 31.8 square kilometers. The coordinates of Mehsana are 23.6°N 72.4°E.

There are many educational institutions here including the Rangoli International School, N G International School, J.M. Chaudhari Sarvajanik Vidyalaya, Municipal Arts and Urban Bank Science College, and many others. Leading hospitals in the area include the Lions General Hospital, Abhay Medical Hospital and the Safal Multispecialty Hospital. The Mehsana Junction railway station is the nearest railway station for residents in the area. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad is the nearest airport and is well connected to Mehsana as well.
