A total of 1.63 crore property cards have been generated by states under the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (Svamitva) scheme till December 6, 2023, the ministry of panchayati raj informed Parliament on December 12.
As on December 6, Rs 354.52 crore have been released under the scheme while drone flying has been completed in 288,942 villages, Union minister of state for panchayati raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
The scheme is being implemented with the collaborative efforts of the panchayati raj ministry, state revenue departments and state panchayati raj departments and the Survey of India to provide the record of rights (RoR) to village household owners possessing houses in inhabited areas in villages. Svamitva property cards act as the proof of legal ownership. Under this scheme mapping of land parcels using drone technology is done by the Survey of India. States need to sign MoUs with the SoI for implementation of the scheme.
“As per the guidelines of the scheme, the state government shall be responsible for any future updation of rural abadi property data and conducting surveys on regular basis. The mechanism for future updation of property data and maps of a state shall be decided by the state government. The updation of property related data would be done as a part of regular data maintenance of state revenue department. It is the responsibility of state revenue department officials to update the property data,” the minister added.
