June 8, 2023: Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari today said the construction of a two-lane Jaiswal Bridge over the River Chenab on the Udhampur-Ramban section of the National Highway-44 (NH44) has been completed. In a series of tweets, the minister said this meticulously designed balanced cantilever 118-metre bridge was built at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
Gadkari said the establishment of this bridge served a dual purpose. “Firstly, it will alleviate congestion along the Chanderkot to Ramban section, ensuring smoother vehicular movement. Secondly, it will facilitate the seamless passage of vehicles and pilgrim traffic during the Amarnath Yatra on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway-44, which is scheduled to commence shortly.”
He said this transformative development not only contributed to the region’s economic growth but also enhanced its allure as a prime tourist destination.
