The department supervises multiple entities including Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited, Transmission Corporation Limited, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL). How to pay Jammu & Kashmir electricity bills offline? 

Visiting the nearest JKSPDC office provides an offline option for bill payment. Remember to carry a copy of your bill and consider the following payment methods available at the office:

How to pay Jammu & Kashmir electricity bills online? 

The Power Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir introduced the “Bill Sahuliyat” website to facilitate the convenient online payment of electricity bills for the residents of the state.

How to pay Jammu & Kashmir electricity bills using online apps? 

Certainly, here are simplified steps to use Paytm and Google Pay for paying electricity bills in Jammu & Kashmir:

Paying electricity bills via Paytm

  1. Launch the Paytm application to sign in.
  2. Select ‘Electricity’ from the options.
  3. Choose ‘Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department’ as your electricity board.
  4. Please input your consumer code located on the bill.
  5. Proceed to pay the indicated amount.

Paying electricity bills via Google Pay

  1. After registering on Google Pay, go to ‘Bill Payments’.
  2. Choose ‘Electricity’ from the available options.
  3. Select the electricity board.
  4. Link your consumer number associated with the bill.
  5. Enter your UPI PIN to complete the payment for the due amount.

Paying electricity bills via Mobikwik

  1. Open the MobiKwik app on your device.
  2. Go to the “Recharge and Bill Pay” section.
  3. Choose the “Electricity” option from the list.
  4. Choose “Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Department” from the available selections.
  5. Enter your unique consumer ID.
  6. Tap on the “GO” button.

  1. Open the Airtel payments or thanks app
  2. Sign into the app
  3. Head to the Payments Bank Section.
  4. Tap on ‘Electricity Bill’.

  7. Input your CA number (Customer Account number) as stated on the bill.
  8. Click on the option of ‘Pay Now’ to continue with the payment .

Latest hikes

The electricity distributors in both Jammu and Kashmir regions have suggested increasing the electricity tariff to offset their financial losses. Here is an overview of the proposed hikes by various two main power distributors : 

Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL)

The current rates stand at Rs 1.69 per unit for usage up to 100 units, Rs 2.20 for 101 to 200 units, Rs 3.30 for 201 to 400 units, and Rs 3.52 for more than 400 units. The proposed changes entail pricing at Rs 2 per unit for up to 200 units, Rs 4 per unit for 201 to 400 units, and Rs 5 per unit for usage exceeding 400 units.

Regarding unmetered connections, JPDCL recommends an increase in charges from Rs 99 to Rs 200 for consumption up to .25 kilowatt and from Rs 325 to Rs 400 for connections ranging above .25 kilowatt up to .50 kilowatt per month. Furthermore, there is a proposal for an increase from Rs 490 to Rs 600 for connections ranging from above .50 kilowatt to 1.33 kilowatt per month.

For non-domestic and commercial connections, JPDCL proposes a rate of Rs 3.50 per unit for up to 200 units monthly. Presently, the agency charges Rs 2.81 per unit for consumption up to 100 units and Rs 2.97 per unit for 101 to 200 units monthly. Additionally, they propose charging Rs 5 per unit for usage between 201 to 500 units monthly, while the current rates are Rs 4.29 for 201 to 300 units and Rs 4.62 for consumption exceeding 300 units per month.

Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) 

has suggested a 12.46% increase in power tariff for various consumers. KPDCL’s proposed tariff hike of 12.46% also aims to recover their financial deficits.
