Ayodhya Development Authority is the government agency responsible for the planned development of this temple town located on the banks of the Saryu River. The birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya has seen phenomenal development after the Supreme Court paved the way for the Ram Mandir construction here. The agency spearheading this change within the town is the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA).
Ayodhya Development Authority: Facts
The authority was constituted by the government on November 2, 1985. Subsequently, the Ayodhya Special Area Development Authority was formed in February 1988. On February 26, 1996, the Ayodhya Special Area was disintegrated, and the Ayodhya-Faizabad Development Authority was formed. At least 67 gram sabhas adjacent to Faizabad and Ayodhya were included under the development area of Ayodhya-Faizabad Development Authority. This development area was earlier under Uttar Pradesh construction work and regulation.
In 2018, the agency, responsible for spearheading the basic infrastructure and housing projects in the town, was rechristened as Ayodhya Development Authority.
