NIMS Hospital: Emergency treatments
The institute has a two-story emergency block for handling crises. The operations began in 2012 as part of the PMSSY project. It comprises a 96-bed acute medical care unit and a Tier I trauma facility. There are three intensive care units with fully functional triage facilities for disaster management. Twelve Emergency Medical Officers, six faculty members, and senior residents comprise the Department of Emergency Medicine, which oversees and manages the EMD facilities. Doctors from the medical and surgical divisions’ supporting departments are available around the clock.
There are two large and one small operating rooms in the department. Blood bank and laboratory services are available around the clock within the same facility. The Department has a General Surgery team that provides outpatient treatment for minor surgical procedures.
