Aravali Biodiversity Park Gurgaon: Visitor’s guide

There are around 300 native plant species and 185 bird species in the park located in Gurgaon.

The Aravali Biodiversity Park in Gurgaon is India’s first Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECM) site, as declared by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Spread across 153.7 hectare, the park was opened on June 5, 2010, on the occasion of the World Environment Day.  In this guide, we will look at some interesting facts about the park.

  • The park’s network of trails through its landscape is one of its highlights. Along the way one can see hills, wildflowers and vegetation. There are around 185 bird species in the park and the park is an eBird hotspot.

  • The native plant nursery located within the park premises is where you can learn about the region’s 300 native plant species, their importance in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Also, plants are available for sale here.
  • Reptiles like the Bengal monitor and mammals such as the northern or five-striped palm squirrel, the nilgai, the golden jackal,the Indian hare, the common palm civet and the Indian grey mongoose can be spotted here.
