BDA demolishes unauthorised constructions across Bangalore

The BDA demolished unauthorised sheds in Shivaram Karanth Layout, Bangalore.

June 11, 2024: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has taken decisive steps against unauthorised layouts on BDA-acquired land. On June 8, 2024, BDA officials halted construction on a 5-acre layout in JB Kaval village, Yeshwantpur hobli, on the outskirts of Bangalore. Following orders from the BDA commissioner, the authority demolished illegal structures and issued warnings about legal repercussions.

According to regulations, private developers must obtain BDA sanctions and approvals before selling plots in and around Bangalore. However, many plots were sold without proper approval in areas like the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) area and Shivaram Karanth Layout.

On June 7, 2024, the BDA demolished unauthorised sheds in Shivaram Karanth Layout. A BDA official noted that layouts are being constructed and plots sold without the necessary layout map approval. The official emphasised that legal action will be taken against those developing unauthorised settlements or selling plots illegally. The BDA has urged all builders to adhere to proper procedures and obtain necessary approvals to avoid legal consequences.
