The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is an autonomous body in Bangalore that supplies water to the entire 800 sqkm of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The residents of Bangalore have to pay the water charges based on the consumption and this can be done using the multiple payment options available online. The Bangalore water charges can also be paid offline by visiting the ward office. 

How to access the BWSSB Billing Services online?

The BWSSB Billing Services (version 2.0) can be accesses on https://bwsajala.karnataka.gov.in/. Note that previously all details regarding the water bill payment was available on another web portal- https://bwssb.karnataka.gov.in/english which redirects to the Sajala website now. 

All about the Sajala website

Sajala is a centralized billing and collection system which forms the most important IT System component of BWSSB. It holds all the data pertaining to more than 10.5 lakh consumer with monthly demand and revenue collection. The billing activity is carried out through hand held spot billing devices with GPRS technology. Meter reading through hand held devices has provided transparency in the billing and enabled issue of the bills in time to the consumer.

What is RR Number in the BWSSB water bill? 

The RR number of the Revenue Register number in the BWSSB Water bill is a unique identifier number that is assigned to each customer in Bangalore. This number is important for paying the water bill in Bangalore and getting all details related to it. 

How to pay the BWSSB water bill online?

The BWSSB has enabled citizens to pay their bills at their convenient instead of waiting till due date by using the different payment options.

• To pay the BWSSB water bill online, one has to log on to https://bwsajala.karnataka.gov.in/ and click on payment portal. 
• Enter the 8 digit RR Number and opt for OTP on registered mobile number or registered email id and click on send OTP. 

• Once you enter the OTP, you will get details on the amount to pay as water bill. If there are any arrears, that will also be added to the bill and shown. You can choose the online mode of payment you want to do and proceed. 

Note that if you have not yet registered your mobile number yet, you will get the following form that you will have to fill. 

• Enter RR Number, Consumer number, First 4 letters of Consumer name, email id and click on check details. 
• In case you have to change the registered mobile number, click on change registered number on the top right of the Sajala website and fill the details.

• Log on to https://www.karnatakaone.gov.in/WaterBoardBangalore/WaterBillPayment/SWRVSGgrb3NJM0NzVW5ZR3FRU1VXQT09

• Enter RR number, consumer name, bill date, bill amount and amount and click on acknowledgement
• Select payment gateway, mobile number and proceed to pay the water bill. 
• If you do not have a KarnatakaOne login, you can proceed as a guest user.
• Enter your mobile number under the Guest Mobile Number section.
• This is optional but recommended for payment confirmations and future communication in case of issues.
• Users with a profile can skip this step and proceed after logging in.

How to pay the BWSSB water bill using PayTM portal?

• Log on to the PayTM portal or open the Paytm mobile app.
• Under the ‘Bill Payments’ section, click on ‘My Bills’. 
• Click on water
• Select BWSSB as the water board from the options provided. 
• Choose the type of water service and enter the RR number.
• You will see the money to be paid.
• Proceed to make the payment

• You can download the BWSSB Jala Doota mobile app from the Google Playstore. 
• You can pay the BWSSB water bill by clicking on the billing category.

What are charges included in the BWSSB water bill?

The BWSSB water bill includes: 

• Pro-rata charges: The charges that are levied on new or modified water connections. This is charged towards the sewerage infrastructure’s capital cost. The pro-rata charges starts from Rs 250 to Rs 600 per square meter. 
• Meter service charge: This is a fixed monthly charge that is set for maintenance. Reading of water meter ranges from Rs 30 to Rs 150.
• Sanitary charges:  These are charges that are linked to the sewerage services. They are either Rs 100 or 25% of the water bill, whichever is maximum. 
• Inspection fees: These are fees associated with inspections asked by consumer or recommended by the BWSSB. 
• Late payment penalty: Any BWSSB bill that has been defaulted may attract a penalty.

• Fill details in the form including property address, applicant information, and the type and size of connection needed.
• Submit the application form with supporting documents
• The BWSSB officials will inspect the site and based on the findings will approve/disapprove water connection. 
• Once approved, pay the charges that includes connection fees, pro-rata charges, security deposit, cost of the metre etc. Once payment is done and acknowledgment received, the water connection will be sanctioned. 
• The BWSSB authorised plumbers will lay the service line and the water metre. 
• Finally you will be given the RR number.
