Horizontal canopy decoration

This is a simple and quick design concept for a kids’ room. You only need a horizontal rope to fold the fabric over. The bed, a chair, and a wardrobe are three examples of heavy pieces of furniture in the room to which the fabric’s corners can be fastened.

Make this enjoyable by using unique fabric and adding loops to the corners so it can be fixed and removed as needed. Another option is to conceal it beneath a base mattress. Or you could use this concept to create a canopy for the bed, like a tent!

Basic frame canopy decoration

If you need more fundamental carpentry skills, hire a carpenter to construct two simple A-frames with their tops crisscrossed so that you can position a horizontal pole in the middle of the two. Although it may seem complicated, it is pretty easy.

Simply drape a piece of fabric over the horizontal pole to keep things simple. If skilled with a sewing machine, you could make a small window on the side and make tie-back curtains for the tent’s opening. This canopy decoration design can be improved further; for example, you could make the A’s foldable or strengthen the tent with additional horizontal support in the centre.

No-sew play canopy decoration

Drill four evenly spaced holes through a hula hoop. This means that the holes should be placed opposite to one another. Once you’ve finished, loop a strong rope through every hole and assemble it at the top. This is the canopy’s frame. The only thing left is to get a long shower curtain and thread each eyelet through a curtain ring.

The curtain ring should sit on top of the rope knot as you carefully slide this over the canopy frame. Your tent canopy requires no sewing. All you need to do is hang your tent from a strong hook attached to the ceiling. If your ceiling is high, extend the rope length and make adjustments.

Teepees tent

The use of teepees in place of the traditional American Indian tents is brilliant. You will need four equal-length poles that you will position upright to resemble a teepee in your children’s bedroom.

Tie them together at least a foot below the top so that the bottom of the pole is spread out and the tops are joined. The traditional clove hitch knot can be used to fasten the tepee. Test it to see if it can stand up straight without any assistance. The next step is to wrap a sizable fabric piece around the tepee and tie it at the top, above your knot, once more.
