In a move to discourage unauthorised constructions, the Maharashtra government has announced that it will file criminal cases against builders who are responsible for illegalities

The Maharashtra government, which has decided to regularise unauthorised constructions till December 2015 on a mass scale in urban belts, has said that criminal cases will be filed against builders responsible for illegalities.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislative assembly that criminal cases will be filed against builders, who have undertaken illegal construction. “Action will also be taken against guilty officials,” Fadnavis said.

The policy to regularise unauthorised constructions is applicable to the entire state and not just in Thane and Navi Mumbai, he said.
