Centre sanctions 6,000 homes under PMAY for Himachal Pradesh

This is in addition to the already approved 5,000 homes under PMAY.

August 28, 2023: Union minister Anurag Thakur on August 25, 2023, said that the Centre has sanctioned an additional 6,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for Himachal Pradesh to help the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of the destruction caused by heavy rains in the state, mention media reports.

According to Thakur, while previously, the Rural Development Ministry had approved 5,000 homes under PMAY for Himachal Pradesh, the sanction of these additional 6,000 homes under the initiative will help people of the hill state presently coping with natural disasters.

Additionally, media reports added that rural development Minister Giriraj Singh has okayed to build 2,700 km of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Himachal Pradesh.

The rural development ministry had sanctioned 254 projects worth Rs 2,372.59 crore in Himachal Pradesh that saw damage to roads and bridges during the recent spell of heavy rains.
