December 29, 2023: The Industrial Development Authority and Noida Authority, led by the Industrial Development Commissioner and Noida Authority Chairman Manoj Singh, approved the New Noida Master Plan 2041 on December 26, 2023, as per various media reports. The move will pave the way for the transformation of 84 villages in Dadri and Bulandshahr, which will be developed along the lines of cities like Chicago, the US, and other European countries.
The proposed New Noida city will cover 20,000 hectare with a focus on industrial development. A total of 41 locations have been designated for industrial purposes, with allocation of 11.5% for residential, 17% for green and recreational spaces, 15.5% for road infrastructure, 9% for institutional and 4.5% for commercial development.
Residential development
Under the master plan, housing units for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low-income Group (LIG), Middle-income Group (MIG) and High-income Group (HIG) categories will be developed to cater to the needs of the growing workforce in the region.
Aimed to boost planning efficiency, inspired by the city planning models in Chicago and various European countries, the development will be classified into four distinct zones – South, East, West and North. Each zone will have specific industrial hubs, offering various avenues for investors.
Special Investment Zone
A dedicated Special Investment Zone of around 210 square kilometre is interconnected through the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Dadri to Mumbai) and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (Ludhiana to Kolkata through Khurja). The strategic positioning of this zone will provide investors with enhanced connectivity options.
Educational hub
Under the New Noida Master Plan 2041, an area of 1662 hectare has been allocated for setting up educational facilities. The development aims to transform New Noida into an education city, which will include university campuses, medical and engineering colleges, professional institutes, nursing and paramedical institutions, and integrated colleges and technical institutions.
Development of road network
A three-tier road network will integrate college-to-industry routes through the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Region (DNIGR). The arterial roads include a 40.68-km First Arterial Road, a 98.34-km Second Arterial Road, and a 126.09-km Sector Road. The network will be interconnected through a broad 130-metre grid road.
