Construction work for connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus’ (CSMT) old subway to Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 has started with barricades placed in front of the subway near the Canon entry point. This will aid in seamless change of mode of transport with the subway being connected with underground pathway access with Aqua Line 3.
Mumbai Metro Line 3 integrates at eight locations with other suburban railway stations, Mumbai Metro line and other existing transport modes including the bus service and monorail service. It merges with Mumbai CSMT and Churchgate, two of Mumbai’s largest termini and also connects with the Grant Road and Mumbai Central railway stations. The Aqua Line is close to the MSRTC Dadar bus depot and the monorail at Mahalakshmi. It also is planned to integrate with Mumbai Metro Lines 1 and 2B.

Mumbai Metro 3: Science Museum and Cuffe Parade stations status
Work at the Science Museum metro and Cuffe Parade station is progressing rapidly. According to a MMRCL tweet, 100% New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) Crossover Overt lining has been completed at Science Museum metro station. The 104.46 metres NATM crorssover overt lining work was completed in 179 days. Also, at the Science Museum station, 84% civil work and 44% systems work has been completed.

Additionally, Cuffe Parade, one of South Mumbai’s iconic areas will be on the rail map after 86 long years with the Mumbai Metro 3 that connects Colaba to SEEPZ.

To be made operational in two phases, Mumbai metro line 3 corridor’s first phase aims to start operations by 2023.
