January 25, 2024: Infrastructure and beautification projects worth over Rs 45,000 crore undertaken by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) are likely to be completed and opened for the public between February and April 2024, according to media reports. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reviewed the progress of these projects on January 23, 2024, and fixed the timelines.
According to an official statement, the DDA said the ongoing projects have the potential to positively alter the cityscape as well as give impetus to the in situ rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
The projects include in situ rehabilitation of slum dwellers at Jailorwala Bagh and Kathputli Colony, transit-oriented development in east Delhi’s Karkardooma, first phase of the grand Bharat Vandana Park in Dwarka, sporting infrastructure in various parts of the city, redevelopment of Qutabgarh village, airport drain and two other projects in Dwarka to solve flooding and sewerage management, landscaping at Baansera and Vasudev Ghat and redevelopment of four parks behind Red Fort and the Walled City.
As per the statement, Saxena has steered several new projects that include the rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains and the restoration of the historical Mehrauli Archaeological Park.
The ambitious Karkardooma transit-oriented development (TOD) project costing Rs 1168.54 crore will have its EWS housing component.Â
