DDA to allow merging two flats in first-come-first-serve scheme

The booking of flats starts from July 10, 2023, 12 pm.

July 3, 2023: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said on July 2, 2023, that it would allow the merging of two flats offered under the ongoing first-come-first-serve (FCFS) scheme with 5,600 flats on offer, media reports stated. According to officials, this facility will give applicants the flexibility to modify and increase living areas in the flats allotted to them.

If an applicant purchases two adjacent flats on offer in this scheme of FCFS Phase IV, he has the liberty of amalgamating the two flats by opening a common door through the common wall between them, subject to necessary structural approvals from the authority, a DDA spokesperson said.

This option is applicable to all localities and to all types of DDA flats offered under this scheme. It will also be extended to applicants who purchase a new flat adjacent to a flat that they already own from an earlier scheme.

According to senior DDA officials, EWS and LIG categories are being given priority in the FCFS housing scheme. Flat prices have been fixed for these with categories with discounts. Applicants for booking and registration of EWS flat will have to furnish income certificates of the entire family for less than Rs 10 lakh.

On June 30, 2023, the DDA launched the FCFS housing scheme with 5,600 flats on offer across various categories and locations in Delhi.

Can you modify DDA flats?

The DDA has formulated rules to allow additions/alterations in the structures. For making certain structural changes, prior permission from the authority is necessary. These include changes for additional coverage, converting of open terrace, construction of an additional bathroom, redeveloping the original structure or changing the position of the kitchen or bathroom.
