Delhi Metro commuters can now recharge smart cards on Whatsapp

Commuters can now use the same ticketing and chatbot services on Whatsapp for accessing the smart card recharge service.

July 30, 2024: In a move that will ensure convenience for metro commuters in Delhi-NCR, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a new metro card recharge feature through popular instant messaging app, Whatsapp. Powered by PeLocal, the WhatsApp-based ticketing service launched by DMRC is available across all metro lines in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) regions, including the Gurgaon Rapid Metro.

 

How to recharge Delhi Metro smart card through Whatsapp?

Commuters can now use the same ticketing and chatbot services on Whatsapp for accessing the smart card recharge service. It is available in both English and Hindi. To access the recharge feature, send ‘Hi’ to +91 9650855800 or by scanning the QR code.

  • Save the Delhi Metro Whatsapp number ‘9650855800’ in your phone contacts.
  • Send ‘Hi’ to this number.
  • Choose the preferred language from the given options – Hindi and English.

  • The Delhi Chatbot will display three options. Choose the option ‘Smart Card Topup’.

  • Click on the ‘Click Here’ button to proceed.

  • Enter the smart card number and the recharge amount in the given field.
  • Click on the checkbox.
  • Choose the preferred payment method such as UPI or other modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, etc.

  • Complete the payment by following the instructions displayed on the screen.

Users on android and iOS can find quick access to the chatbot by clicking on the payments section on their Whatsapp.

In 2023, WhatsApp introduced a QR ticketing system for all DMRC metro routes, including the Gurgaon Rapid Metro. The chatbot provides commuters with quick information and support on train schedules, fare details, station information, etc.
