January 8, 2024: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a significant step by integrating its ticketing services into the ‘One Delhi’ mobile application. This development offers commuters the convenience of planning uninterrupted journeys by combining both metro and city bus services. Originally designed for generating QR tickets for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, the ‘One Delhi’ app now emerges as a comprehensive platform for streamlined travel arrangements, incorporating QR tickets for the Delhi Metro as well.
Launched jointly at Metro Bhawan by Dr Vikas Kumar, managing director, DMRC; Ashish Kundra, transport commissioner, Govt of NCTD; and Pravesh Biyani, head, centre for mobility, IIIT-D, along with other senior officials, this integration is a collaborative effort with IIIT-D (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi), the manager of the ‘One Delhi’ app for the Delhi government. The ‘One Delhi’ app, initiated by the Delhi government, provides comprehensive details and ticketing options for the national capital’s bus services.
Currently, DMRC offers the sale of digital QR tickets through various channels such as the DMRC Saarthi (Momentum 2.0) app, Paytm, Whatsapp, DMRC Travel app and Ridlr and Phonepe (for Airport Express Line only), with approximately 1.2 lakh digital QR tickets sold daily through these channels. While the ‘One Delhi App’ was initially utilised for issuing digital QR tickets for DTC buses only, the recent integration expands its functionality to include QR tickets for Delhi Metro as well. This enhancement provides commuters with a single app for both metro and bus ticket bookings.
By allowing users to input their starting point and destination, the ‘One Delhi’ mobile app generates a comprehensive itinerary seamlessly combining both modes of transportation. This feature eliminates the need to switch between multiple apps or consult different sources for bus and metro schedules. The ‘One Delhi’ App has been updated on both Google (Android) and Apple app stores, incorporating the Delhi Metro ticket booking facility.
